Hellur! I'm Alyssa

When I was 5ish, I remember using a disposable camera to take a photo of Sesame Street on tv so I could have it for another time. I have a terrible memory. I find this strange because I'm super observant and pay close attention to detail. I learned at an early age that photographs save a moment in time that we will never have back. So, I took photos of everything and everyone growing up. Once I look back at a photo, I remember every little thing about that day which explains my photography style. My photographs capture detail, emotion and interaction.

I am from Holley.. A super small town in Western NY.

I used to feel lost when anyone would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. All I ever wanted was to play softball and one day have a family. In school, everyone knew me as the softball chick. I graduated high school in 2010 as player of the year for my region. I lived and breathed the game. After high school I went to college to play softball, having no idea at all what my end goal was. After an injury ended my competitive softball career, I decided to drop out of college. I was majoring in business for no good reason. I went to trade school for dental assisting so I guess that became my backup plan. Even though I liked my job, after years of working hard to be the best I could be, I was always left feeling unfulfilled.

It's funny how things have a way of working themselves out. For my bridal shower gift in August of 2017, my mom bought me my first "real" digital camera. For me, I never considered photography as a career because I was raised thinking, play softball-get a scholarship-go to college-get a job. Not that any of that is wrong, I just knew the college and 8-5 job route wasn't for me. I started offering free sessions to learn as much as I could and quickly realized this was my calling. I decided to start my own business officially in 2018 and by July of 2020 I was doing it full time. I opened my first studio in November of 2020 in Brockport, NY. I am living my dream. I am married to my best friend. We are patiently waiting for a little one (IVF journey). But I have 4 fur babies which I love more than anything. Also, if you have a dog/fur baby, the answer is ALWAYS yes, you can bring them!

If you read all this, thanks. Because I always write way too much haha

PS: I <3 brownies.
